Meet Jon

Jon Larsen is the current Chair of the Haverford Township Democratic Committee as well as the Legal Technology Manager at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law Center for Public Health Law Research, where he focuses on drug policy, access to healthcare, and the utilization of technology in scientific legal mapping.

Jon has the Background

Jon has been involved in Delaware County politics since 2017, contributing to major Democratic victories such as flipping the county, the Haverford Township Board of Commissioners, and the township School Board, and achieving turnout that approached 90% in the 2020 and 2024 elections. Jon was elected as Chair of the Haverford Township Democratic Committee in 2022. From his initial involvement in 2017 until the present, Jon has focused on building out the strongest possible committee organization.Professionally, Jon has broad health policy experience, particularly in oncology, and has worked both as a health policy consultant and as a senior compliance specialist. Jon has worked on issues related to cancer prevention, health disparities, access to care, payment reform, the opioid crisis, COVID-19 response, and the initial rollout of the Affordable Care Act.Jon holds a J.D. from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law, an M.P.P. from George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government, where he was a Bryce Harlow Foundation Fellow, and a B.A. from Tufts University. Jon and his wife, Kristin Larsen (Haverford Township School Director) have lived in Havertown since 2012 and are the proud parents of Leif (4) and Magdalena (8).

Jon has the Experience

Jon’s many years of experience specializing in policy surveillance and translation of policy change into action uniquely qualify him to serve on Delaware County Council. His experience includes addressing complex problems through a scientific lens, finding barriers to change, and addressing them systematically. His specific policy experience with public health and justice-involved populations makes him a strong candidate to address the evolving needs of our county health department and prison. He also has a strong working relationship with our existing Council, having helped with the public health department transition and served on a task force focused on helping to more effectively direct opioid settlement funding received by the county.

Jon’s top three priorities relate to augmenting the success of our Council and providing the best possible services to all Delaware County residents.Jon intends to:

  • Put our Public Health Department on solid footing to meet evolving challenges in our communities;

  • Ensure that the county prison is providing healthcare services, including mental and behavioral health services, that reflect best practices, improve health, and reduce recidivism.

  • Have Delaware County lead on housing services and other social determinants of health that are needed for our economy to thrive.
